Systems Integration can be defined as all of the activities required to consolidate multiple independent components of an information system in an effort to cooperatively function as a whole. These components can be application software, system software, computing platforms, or other infrastructure component. Although the term "Systems Integration" is a relatively modern term, the need to integrate disparate systems has existed for over thirty years.
Systems Integration is important because of its ability to simplify the operating environment. For example, after a merger or acquisition, the sponsoring organization will most likely find itself with two disparate systems, each requiring support resources to maintain. One of the anticipated synergies of the merger was most likely the potential for cost reduction, which cannot be fully realized until the two disparate systems are integrated.
Insologies can leverage their experience with Systems Integration to help ensure that your project will be a success.
